Disability
ACTAsia’s programs have ‘education’ as the core focus, adapting to various fields such as Humane Education, continued Professional Education and Consumer Education. Within the Humane Education field, ACTAsia to date has reached in the region of 36.000 students through 100 schools and trained more than 800 teachers. Our curriculum focuses on compassion, empathy and respect while providing important Socio-emotional Learning for students and new teaching methods for educators. In addition, with the help of Dr. William Ellery Samuels (Director of Assessment and Accreditation for City University of New York) we have rigorously evaluated the results and importance of the program - please see relative information HERE. As a result, ACTAsia has won support from the Government and received an Award in 2015 as one of China’s top ten influential organisations. Within the remit of Professional Education, ACTAsia had focused on the veterinary sector and has been working with Vets Beyond Borders (VBB Australia) as well as local associations (i.e. Beijing Small Animal Veterinary Association) to provide training and ongoing support and as a result improve animal welfare and help prevent zoonotic diseases (such as Rabies). To date we have trained more than 800vets across China with immediate benefits to stray and owned companion animals. China has no animal welfare laws so this poses a particular challenge, especially with regards to the fur industry with millions of animals suffering every year. As a result, ACTAsia’s Compassionate Lifestyle program aims to help consumers make informed lifestyle choices that won't harm fellow humans, animals and the environment. As part of this program, ACTAsia holds an annual Cruelty Free Fashion Show in China which reaches hundreds of millions of consumers each time. You will find more information about the 2014 and 2015 Fashion Shows held in Beijing in the PDF HERE and the 2015 video HERE.
