In Control Scotland was formed to promote the development of self-directed support and the use of individual budgets in Scotland. The national strategy for self-directed support and the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013 has provided a legislative and policy basis for self-directed support and individual budgets. Our role now is to: Promote, and support the development of, a sustainable system of self-directed support in Scotland that works for everyone and ensures people can be in control whatever type of help they may need and at any age Provide opportunities, and a framework, for organisations, local authorities, people who need support and their families to bring together good practice and share what is working well Encourage innovation to help people get the support they need and the lives they want
