Additional Information

The Sophie Hayes Foundation (SHF) unlocks hope for individuals who have experienced human trafficking or modern day slavery through providing robust, sensitised support, credible research and allowing those we work with to tell their story, if they so choose, to create awareness and instigate change globally. A bit of our story…. The Sophie Hayes Foundation was set up and inspired by Sophie and a small team in January 2012. Her story breaks stereo-types and pre-conceptions to show a reality: this could happen to anyone. Sophie could be your sister; your daughter; your friend. Sophie could be you. Some of our key achievements since we started have been to…… Research and create a comprehensive report called ‘Becoming Hope’ – focused on the state of aftercare across the UK, including the stories of four women we have worked with over the last few years. This was distributed across a number of political and governing bodies to help shape the care standards and post-NRM support. Work with women who have contacted us through reading the book.  Four of these form our ‘survivor network’ who meet on a bi-annual basis. We’ve been to Winter Wonderland, London Eye and Ice-skating together. We’ve formed great friendships with these women through working together over the years. Introduce two campaigns to build awareness of trafficking around the UK: My Code Word and Sophie’s Love Story Build our facebook following to around 4000 members, which gives us an opportunity to reach people around the world with key information about trafficking and us as an organization.  What’s Happening Now?  We have 4 key areas of focus as a charity: Survivor Support, Awareness, Research and Sustaining Our Success. Survivor Support is a big part of waht we do and as such, we have recently created 'Day 46', an aftercare programme focused on confidence buidling and employability. Day 46 is an 8-week prgramme incorporating workshops, one to one coaching and mentoring with volunteer opportunities and voluntary work placements lasting between one day and 6 months. We ran two pilot programmes in February 2016 and about we are to start three new programmes over summer 2016.
