Mission

actNOW is a public benefit corporation empowering users with a technological platform that seeks to improve the social culture and aftermath of sexual assault on college campuses. The mission of actNOW is to: Provide psychological relief and interactive guidance for survivors of sexual assault. Serve as a resource for survivors to obtain appropriate care and support following an assault. Establish an educational element to spread awareness about unwanted sexual contact and prevention measures.

With an abundance of academic studies reporting 1 in 5 women, and 1 in 16 men being the victims of sexual assault while attending college, the need for college campuses to implement and/or improve prevention, awareness, and survivor support measures is at an all-time high. Researchers have noted that approximately 40% of college students have an inadequate understanding of how to report a sexual assault or where to seek help after an incident. Through innovation and collaboration with subject matter experts and survivors, a tool can be developed to increase awareness of resources, protect an institution’s brand, and create an unprecedented survivor-centered approach to aid in the management of sexual assault on college campuses.
