Mission

To enable empowerment through expression.Having a voice is the most powerful tool we individually possess and to not use,  feel you cannot use, or be unable to use your voice in modern society is, in our view, unacceptable. So let’s make sure everybody has access to be heard. We believe that this project will impact on many areas of participants lives including educational, economic, emotional and social attainments. We also believe that we can provide a lasting legacy that will impact on the future worlds of politics, arts, social enterprise and global matters through the engagement of individual voices. The potential of this project is to create possibilities and the possibilities are endless. We are at the start of this adventure and so far we have had amazing support from a world of wonderful people and we extend an invitation to you to join this family!

Additional Information

Wavemakers was born from the realisation that we need many more brave and brilliant voices in the world. So here is our offering, designed to investigate the power of the spoken word and the use of the voice to promote change and freedom of expression in various communities around the UK. Our first project is primarily focused on working with women of all ages and from all backgrounds to investigate their unique voice, discover how other voices have been used to shape the world we live in today, and how their voice can speak for their future. Our aim is to engage as many women as we can in a range of settings from schools to prisons, care homes to village halls and all those in between. We will deliver our vision by providing workshops that focus on investing in individual voices and developing ideas. Workshops focus on the relationship with the voice and how to use the it effectively. They will explore how human voices have shaped society in the past, present and will continue to do so in the future as well as developing creative ways to share thoughts and ideas. The creative element of this project is hugely important. We feel that in order to use your voice you must also have the confidence and belief that others want to hear what you have to say. This is why, as an integral part of the project, we are using the medium of audio recording to facilitate a sharing of individuals ideas to develop the way they see, assess and comment on life around us. The workshop culminates in a recording session of the day's creative output in our audio booth, ‘The Voicebox’. All recordings will then be added to our online ‘Library of Thought’, where participants will be invited to join another wider community and to continue their journey with us if they wish.
