RIPPLE Africa is a UK registered charity founded in 2003 working in Malawi, one of the world's poorest countries.   RIPPLE Africa’s main aim is to help local communities to preserve and sustainably develop their environment to alleviate poverty.  We have a fish conservation project which is successfully protecting fish breeding areas in Lake Malawi, forest conservation and tree planting projects to combat deforestation and we have introduced fuel efficient cookstoves to 40,000 households.  We also support education and healthcare close to our Malawian Base in Nkhata Bay District. We run eight preschools, support six primary schools and a secondary school, run a community library and provide support to local health centres. In Malawi we employ 137 staff and a further 8,000 local people work on our projects as volunteers. In contrast our UK operation is small - we have two full time and one part time staff and four volunteers (including our two founders, one of whom is our CEO). This team run the business side of the charity, fundraise, project manage and provide the strategic direction for the charity with the support of our trustees and as you can imagine we are extremely stretched! Therefore we are very keen to attract someone who can support us with marketing our cause, particularly to corporates who are keen to support environmental causes, and help us sell the carbon credits that we have earned through our cookstove project.
