Mission

Growing Better is a social enterprise dedicated to better mental health through growing edible produce. We have two sites: our commercial operation is an indoor hydroponic vertical farm based in Sheepscar, just outside of Leeds city centre. We are also developing an outdoor community farm in a 3/4 acre site in West Leeds where we run regular sessions and welcome volunteers.

Additional Information

We make a strong connection between healthy living, healthy food and mental health. We are part of a growing movement away from toxic agriculture. We use untreated seeds, the vast majority of which are organic. We create health benefits and employment by farming locally and with minimal use of chemicals. We say no to GMOs, glyphosate and other harmful herbicides, neonicotinoids and other pesticides, growth retardants and peat-based or artificial fertilisers On a broader level, as urban farmers we contribute to the sustainable, local and independent food ecosystem that is developing very quickly across Yorkshire and the UK, reducing food miles, supporting micro-farming and encouraging healthy eating. Our vertical farm is also a key component of the Kirkstall Eco Education Park (keep) vision, aiming to create a distributed, co-operative closed-loop, low carbon research, education and enterprise zone in Kirkstall, Leeds.

Simple e-Commerce site

Description

Hi We have a free site at Strikingly but are now ready to create a simple online sales channel with an integrated payment system. We're thinking of something along the lines of a WordPress or Wix site but we're open to advice ! We also have an annual web hosting package on 123-reg that includes 2 MySQL databases if that's any help! Please consider helping - we're snowed under just growing microgreens and this could be an really great channel for our core produce and new product ranges :-)
