Mission

Our mission at "Operation Save The Streets" is to provide immediate relief to the homeless community! Operation Save The Streets (OSTS) provides many support services to give valuable care to each person. What makes OSTS organization unique is our "mobile services" because we specialize in seeking out the most critical homeless areas throughout Los Angeles County. OSTS provides essential necessities to help balance life in an unstable environment. We distribute fresh and healthy nutritional meals both vegan and vegan-free, personal hygienic items, clothing, referrals for other free agencies, job-readiness skills from A to Z and most importantly HOPE! Generally, the homeless population are often unaware of free services and jobs opportunities provided in their area due to many contradicting factors. The number one cause of homelessness is lack of income. Our organization is design to help fill the gap between the two entities by educating every life we touch, not only to give immediate relief to the homeless people, but also prepare, pre-interview and help find jobs (as we strive toward providing stability through these resources) -always free of charge. (see Program I ) OSTS objective is to reach-out to all demographics of the homeless community and continue to provide exceptional services to help ease life on the streets. We want to help the maximum number of people who are in genuine and dire need of our assistant to pursue a normal life and what better way to reach out to the needy than being on the streets where they live, eat, and sleep. We have supporting attestation and testimonial that "Operation Save The Streets" have been successful in solving these vital problems in the homeless community. In the past nine (9) months, we have fed and given clothing to over 1,000 homeless people, 5,000 hygienic health products, donated 56 ready-to-wear interview clothing and landed jobs for eight (8) homeless persons living on Skid Road. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION PROGRAM I Job-Readiness A-Z This program can be a powerful catalysts and incentive in aiding each homeless person with the right tools to re-engage themselves back into the workforce, considering “the number (1) one reason for homelessness is income” . As the initiative is shown to re-enter the workforce, our team immediately began to prepare the person(s) for their job/career interest. These services include, but not limited to potential job openings, practice interviews, referrals to non-profits, prepare general resumes on-site, rides to and from interview, funding gift cards for food and follow-up inquiries. Interview clothing, shoes, accessories as well as soap, shavers kits, deodorant, lotion are assembled arming them with the right tools to again succeed in the workforce. (see Succession Kit) After 3 days of employment, additional clothing and tokens for public transportation are provided. We continue to follow-up on their success and let each person know we are still here to support their new endeavors. Our organizational mission is not only designed to feed, but equip our homeless Americans with the ability to change their lifestyles and become stable and productive members of society again. These critical steps are concrete toward becoming self-sufficient and feeling empowered in their success. PROGRAM II Mobile Closet - This program consist of two parts. Daily Living Closet and Interview Closet. Daily Living Closet contains racks of clothing, shoes and necessary accessories, i.e. socks, and male/female undergarments. Interview Closet contains professional business and business casual attire along with accessories which has been reserved for the people whose aspirations (ambition) demonstrate the initiative to re-enter into the workforce and need appropriate attire. These clothes are inventoried into our Job-Readiness A-Z program. *(Note: all Interview Closet clothing are pressed if needed). From our experience, homeless people only look for certain items in our mobile closet because of their lack of space, keeping our attention that they have no closet, thus mobile closet creates this atmosphere as we’ve seen countless times people changing their clothes right on the streets. Thus the need for clothes are great. Together, the Mobile Closet is filled with racks of wonderful clothing articles that has been donated and/or purchase, cleaned, sorted, folded, *pressed and organized for easy distribution.     PROGRAM III Street Kit 17 - After polling several members of the homeless community to help identify their specific needs, we have determined in concert the profound need for their daily living. These 17 essential items will help maintain a suitable life for the homeless community. They consist of the following: blankets, flashlight, gloves, batteries, soap, deodorant, tarp, toothbrush, toothpaste, men and women undergarments, lotion, wipes, tents, rope, first aid kits, sleeping bags and feminine items. Simple things others can sometimes take fore-granted.
