Mission

We are a small largely volunteer run charity, whose aim is to tackle the huge challenges facing the charity sector by using technology - we punch far above our weight, and are the 'go to' support for many charities. We focus on small charities and marginalised groups but we are also used by people from almost all the very biggest. Launched in 2018, we have 50,000+ members, growing at a rate of 3,500 a month, making us both the largest and fastest growing UK charity community. Our website has about 680k active visitors pa and our weekly newsletter nearly 90k. In commercial terms we're small, but in the charity sector, that's more than any other support body. In our community feedback survey, 60% of respondents rate us 10/10 for trustworthiness. Pretty much everything is done by myself (PR, content, social, branding, SEO, strategy) and I am almost entirely self taught. I'm good at what I'm good at but there's a lot I don't know and lots that could be done potentially a lot better. There is so much more we could achieve, with a little help. We'd really benefit from an all round professional who could support us in upping our game, or possibly help out in a particular area. That might be one-off support, such as our work to reposition our brand, or on an ongoing basis, perhaps in PR, which we get very little coverage; I've been on TV and radio a few times and even in the nationals but I'm on the autism spectrum, so my press releases are howlingly bad. However, since we'd benefit from help in most areas, there's plenty of scope for you to choose something that you'd enjoy doing. An eco system of 12 AI and digital capabilities, Charity Excellence is a free one-stop-shop that enables any non profit to find the funding, support and free help it needs. We prioritise supporting small charities and marginalised groups and our community supports 15% of the UK population. Our Charity Sector Data Store has created Big Data for the charity sector, which we can track in real time so we can provide information and analysis the Media would value. Looking forward, we're working to reposition our brand to appeal more to corporates whom we need to engage more and we'll be launching a potentially game changing new AI system in the autumn. It's being built pro bono by a global AI consultancy.

Additional Information

We support all non profits but there isn't an option, so I use poverty. This is a short video (2 mins 30 secs) someone made for us for free, in which I talk about what we do and why - https://youtu.be/tl27Ie8GInY. Thank you for reading our entry. If you like what you've read, get in contact. I'll be happy to share anything you might want to know about but you absolutely will not be under any pressure to volunteer. Here's a comment from the chat of a webinar I delivered in June - 'I've never cried listening to a presentation before, but I found this SO immensely helpful. It literally brought tears to my eyes as I have felt so worn down. Thank you, Ian'. It's really tough for charities and we're delivering the practical support they need.
