Mission

We are a tiny, almost entirely volunteer run charity with a budget of under £70k, but we punch well above our weight. Launched in 2018, with 50,000 members, growing at a rate of 3,500 a month, we are both the largest and fastest growing UK charity community. Our website has about 680k active visitors pa and our newsletter nearly 90k. In commercial terms, big deal, but in the charity sector, that's a lot of reach. In our community feedback survey, 60% of respondents rate us 10/10 for trustworthiness. If you want to know what that looks like in real life, here's a comment from the chat of a webinar I delivered yesterday - 'I've never cried listening to a presentation before, but I found this SO immensely helpful. It literally brought tears to my eyes as I have felt so worn down. Thank you, Ian'. However, we get very little PR and that's holding us back from helping even more people. Pretty much everything is done by myself (PR, content, social, branding, SEO, strategy) and I am almost entirely self taught. I'm good at what I'm good at but there's a lot I don't know and lots that could be done potentially a lot better. We're weakest in PR but we'd also really benefit from an all round professional who could support us in upping our game, or possibly help out in a particular area. Since we'd benefit from help in most areas, there's plenty of scope for you to choose something that you'd enjoy doing. An eco system of 12 AI and digital capabilities, Charity Excellence is a free one-stop-shop that enables any non profit to find the funding, support and free help it needs. We prioritise supporting small charities and marginalised groups and our community supports 15% of the UK population. We do have appeal - I've been on BBC TV twice, and local radio and even made the nationals a couple of time but it's always them approaching us. And our Charity Sector Data Store has created Big Data for the charity sector, which we can track in real time so we can provide information and analysis the Media would value. The problem is that I'm on the autism spectrum and my press releases are howlingly bad. We need someone who can turn our stories into press releases and pitch them to the Media. That might be TV, radio, print or online, general or specialist, and could be either local, regional or national - the aim is to get the message to people involved in charities about how we can help them. There are 1 million staff and 14 million volunteers. We have almost no PR so it'd be whatever of those channels you could reach and whenever you'd have the time to do something. Not a high workload volunteering role - it's your skill and contacts we need.

Additional Information

We support all non profits but there isn't an option, so I use poverty. This is a short video (2 mins 30 secs) someone made for us for free, in which I talk about what we do and why. It will be live on 30 June - https://youtu.be/tl27Ie8GInY
