Additional Information

Destination Florida has been bringing sunshine into the lives of children with life limiting and life threatening medical conditions for over 25 years.  The charity does this by organising a biannual eight day trip to Florida for around 75 children from across the North of England.  The children are supported by a mobile hospital of around 110 volunteers including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and carers, and this enables one to one support to be provided.  Whilst in Florida, the children have the opportunity to visit all of the major theme parks including Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.  They also have a more relaxing day which includes time in the hotel pool, a shopping trip and watching a Cirque Du Soleil show. The Florida trips are meticulously planned and cost over £400,000 each, which needs to be raised before we fly.  The difference these sunshine breaks make to the children is immense - new friendships are made, confidence is increased, and happy memories created that will last a lifetime.  Additionally, the benefit of a week's respite for parents and guardians cannot be underestimated.  For further information, please visit our website at www.destinationflorida.org.uk
