Our vision is for health and social care services that provide high quality and safe care, where patients and their carers are valued as expert partners and recognised as individuals. And for a health system that is compassionate, accessible and inclusive for everyone that seeks to improve and innovate. Likewise, we want to see a culture where transparency thrives, patients, their families, carers and staff are empowered to raise concerns and make complaints to contribute to a better and safer healthcare system. We believe this should be an accountable system where this feedback is valued and acted upon.

The Patients Association provides dedicated support and advice to patients, carers and their families, giving them the strength and expertise to navigate the health and social care system. Our national Helpline takes over 8,000 calls each year to provide this advice. However, the work that we are currently doing is not enough; more and more people are calling our Helpline, and we simply cannot help everyone. Due to the increasing demand on health and social care services, an ageing population, and efficiency savings in the NHS, the demand for our expertise is rising. We currently have a dedicated, but small, team of advisers and volunteers that offer free and impartial advice. By donating to our Helpline Appeal you will be helping us to meet this increased demand. We simply need more caseworkers, more advisers, and more equipment to be able to do what we do. Your donation could ensure that we provide guidance to an older person looking for information on care in their local area, or provide crucial support to a family that has lost a loved one due to clinical negligence. The Helpline provides a lifeline for vulnerable patients, and as an independent charity we could not give the advice we do without generous donations from our supporters.
