Mission

Our mission at CLLSA is to offer guidance and support to CLL patients and theor families. We do though only have under 2,000 members and we need to increase our membership. We publish leaflets for us in clinics and we have a good web site. We do though need to raise the profile of CLL and CLLSA in the UK

Additional Information

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) is the biggest blood cancer to affect adults in the UK. Approx 3,500 new cases are diagnosed in the UK p.a. and the total patient poulation is around 30,000. Average age for treatment is 72 years and the male /female split is 2/1. Treatment is chiefly chemotherapy and there are new - but expensive - new treatments are coming on stream. The condition is though essentially incurable although long remissions - 5 to 10 years - are not uncommon.
