Mission

HoodEx Charity: Empowering Young People in Tyneside Young people in Tyneside face serious challenges—including poverty, crime, isolation, and exploitation. At HoodEx, we believe that no young person is beyond hope. Our mission is to support 13–22 year olds who are often overlooked or written off, helping them transform their lives and build brighter futures. HoodEx offers a holistic, youth-led approach grounded in trust, respect, and real opportunity. Our flagship Turn-Around Mentoring Project pairs young people with trained, carefully matched volunteer mentors for one-to-one support, providing consistent guidance through life’s challenges. We combine mentoring with engaging activities that develop resilience, confidence, and purpose. This includes access to sports and fitness programmes, local adventures and trips designed to broaden horizons, and hands-on personal development experiences that inspire positive change. To help young people move toward independence, we offer vocational training, volunteering roles, and paid placements with trusted business partners. Life skills workshops focus on areas such as budgeting, communication, and job readiness, while our pathway support connects young people to apprenticeships, training programmes, and employment opportunities. At HoodEx, we walk alongside young people every step of the way—helping them believe in themselves, take control of their futures, and thrive in the face of adversity.
