The African Girl Foundation is a Kenyan charity aimed at preventing African school girls from dropping out due to a lack of sanitary pads.THE CURRENT SITUATIONOver 65% of Kenyan school girls cannot afford a sanitary pad as a basic necessity and are forced to drop out of school altogether.THE CHALLENGES- High levels of corruption- Low income levels (<US$ 1.25 per day)- The high cost of disposable sanitary pads- Lack of education on menstruation as a bodily functionOUR IMPACT - A reduction in school drop out rates by up to 60%- Underage pregnancies reduce- A rapid decline in HIV infection levels- School girls no longer suffer from embarrassment and low self esteemOUR INITIATIVETo provide Kenyan school girls with re-usable sanitary kits that last for over 1 year free of cost.
