Mission
Our vision is for enriched communities where older people are valued, connected and full of hope.
We combat the loneliness and ageism experienced by older people through raising awareness, equipping churches and mobilising volunteers.
We work with some of the oldest and frailest people in society, offering friendship and support to care home residents through our Care Home Friend volunteers, who visit weekly.

Additional Information
We train volunteers to spend time and build frienship with care home residents. Research shows that older people in care homes are twice as likely to feel lonely severely as older people in the community. One resident described it as “being alone in a crowd”.
The activities our volunteers do with residents range from simply chatting, to manicures and hand massages, playing games, going for a walk, reading aloud, singing, or any other activity that a resident would like that we are able to facilitate and gives the opportunity to build relationship.
We started locally in the Borough of Richmond and have over 50 volunteers across all the care homes. We have now begun replicating our model in other places. Our vision is simple – there are 17,500 care homes across the UK and over 50,000 churches. We want to see each care home adopted by a local church with trained volunteers spending time and building friendship with residents. Together we can have a huge impact in the lives of some of the oldest and frailest members of our society.
