Our aim is to develop services which enableadults with learning disabilities to live full lives.We will also continue to provide services whichsupport carers of people with learning disabilities.We recognise possible tensions between a serviceuser’s best interest and the interest of theircarers and we will consult and involve both usersand carers when offering services.

Established in 1953, Lambeth Mencap’s earlyfocus was on supporting parents and lobbyingstatutory authorities. Our organisation hasplayed a key role in helping shape localservices and involvement in service planningremains an important element of our work.Today we are a significant provider ofcommunity based services to both adults withlearning disabilities and their carers.
