Mission
Rogue Opera Outreach is a not-for-profit organisation that builds on the ethos and artistic approach developed by Rogue Opera LLP, which was established by Bronwen Harding to create compact, flexible and accessible opera. Since 2018, Rogue Opera LLP has built a reputation in the corporate and private client market for innovative, small-scale productions and contemporary re-imaginings, performing everywhere from pub gardens, barns and private estates to high streets, immersive spaces and corporate settings.
Rogue Opera Outreach extends this ethos into communities beyond London and the UK’s major metropolitan centres: reaching regional towns and cities, small villages and rural areas that have limited access to opera and bringing opera’s emotional power to people who may never have experienced it before.
Opera can be truly transformative, yet it remains out of reach for many people – geographically, financially and culturally.

Additional Information
Alice in Operaland is Rogue Opera Outreach’s flagship project for children: a vibrant, participatory 45-minute opera experience – with optional accompanying workshop – that draws on characters from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. The project introduces young audiences to the world of opera by weaving a story through opera arias and ensembles.
SYNOPSIS
Alice embarks on a musical journey through Operaland as she prepares for a performance she’s afraid to give. Along the way, she encounters a cast of characters – the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, and Tweedledum and Tweedledee – each embodying distinctive operatic archetypes, vocal styles, musical ideas and emotional worlds.
Through these encounters, Alice explores questions of identity, belonging and finding her own voice, discovering that confidence grows through curiosity, collaboration and self-expression. The children are invited to participate throughout the performance, culminating in a shared finale that brings together everything that Alice – and they – have learned.
DELIVERY
Performed by three singers and a pianist, Alice in Operaland uses musical motifs, call-and-response, movement and active listening to familiarise children with the sound and language of opera. Characters introduce core musical concepts such as rhythm, pulse, pitch, breath, dynamics and vocal colour, drawing direct connections between emotion and sound. Engaging props, costumes and a pop-up set provides flexible and entertaining staging, enabling the work to be performed in a wide range of spaces. The performance and accompanying workshop are aligned with the Model Music Curriculum, supporting singing, listening, composing, performing and musicianship skills, while also developing communication, confidence and group collaboration. It is suitable for a wide range of school and community settings and requires no prior experience of opera.
