Mission

We empower small-scale fishing communities in the developing world to eradicate poverty while protecting the environment. We envision a world where coastal tuna fisheries, including the people, communities, businesses and seas connected with them, thrive.

Additional Information

As the ocean environment faces growing challenges, from climate change, to pollution, to overfishing, we provide a positive platform to reward community-oriented, low impact tuna fisheries that are good for people and the environment. The vast majority of tuna caught globally is captured using industrial methods that harm marine life (turtles, sea birds, sharks, dolphins) while only employing a small number of people. IPNLF seeks to reward practices that do NOT harm these animals while also providing employment and vital food for local communities. IPNLF connect the world’s most sustainable and socially responsible tuna fishing communities to the global market – seeking commitments from the supply chain to promote these practices and bring a better return to impoverished coastal communities. In line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we protect and promote vulnerable fishing communities through advocacy, research, practical operational improvements, and market commitments.

Web development to communicate ocean sustainability messages

Description

We are a global NGO working to improve livelihoods, food security, and economic returns for coastal communities around the world. We are seeking professional input on how to enhance our impact via website improvements, including by analysing current usage and planning out a more effective sitemap. We feel our web presence is falling short of its potential as we have a wealth of compelling photos and videos, stories, and news aimed at businesses and consumers. Despite it being an essential communications tool, we don’t have a clear understanding of how accessible the information is for our audiences and its impact. To do this, we would like to work with an experienced web developer that can advise us on how to create a more effective web presence. This project would deliver an analysis of current website use and a website development plan for a more effective, engaging website that enhances IPNLF’s offering in line with our marketing and communications strategy; ultimately supporting our efforts to protect the marine environment and the communities that rely on the sea.
