We support disadvantaged and marginalised local people, particularly those who experience mental health problems and older people. The two centres provide a range of activities from exercise classes for elderly people, social groups, art classes, counselling, mindfulness, and complementary therapies.

Additional Information

In the early 1970’s a group of local people who were concerned about the lack of facilities and services for local families and people experiencing mental health issues got together to see what they could do to bring about change. As a result of their hard work and community activity, Holloway Neighbourhood Group was established. Over the years we have worked with many different communities in the Holloway area, including pre-school children, parents, people with mental health problems, elders and unemployed people. We are a vibrant charity providing opportunities to bring the community together in Holloway, north London. We run two great ventures: The Old Fire Station Community Centre - a multi purpose centre for people of all ages, offering wellbeing and social opportunities. Stress Project Therapy Centre. where we provide low cost counselling services and complementary therapies for people with stress related illness and mental health problems.

Mental Health Project in Islington, London - The Stress Project

Description

The Stress Project provides low cost counselling, complementary therapy, mindfulness and various free drop-in services for the local and wider community – with a focus on people experiencing stress related or mental health problems. We require strategic marketing support regarding how we split up our services for communication purposes and the terminology that we use to make things clearer and more understandable to service users. Much of the terminology that we currently use has remained the same since 1995 and is just internal jargon. We’re also looking for input regarding how we communicate some of our services to Islington’s higher earners. This is because we use evening & weekend counselling appointments and Mindfulness courses to support our free & low-cost daytime services.

Redesigning our websites

Description

Background: Holloway Neighbourhood Group is a small charity that provides a range of in-person, online and blended services from 2 centres in the Holloway area of Islington. We support disadvantaged and marginalised local people, particularly those who experience mental health problems and older people. We have a small staff team of 5 full-time-equivalents and about 75 people get involved each year as volunteers. We currently have two websites, hosted on Weebly. These are: www.hng.org.uk and www.stressproject.org.uk. The core design of these websites has remained the same since 2014. The two websites look rather outdated, do not integrate with our database or point of sale system, include a lot of material which is duplicated on both websites and lack focus and functionality. The purpose of this project is to develop a website (or websites) which offer a coherent user experience for a variety of audience including the public, our regular service users, funders, potential donors & referring organisations. Main Goals/Targets/Requirement • Improve the UX experience for key audiences – ensuring that information is easy to find. • Integrating the website with our Lamplight database to enable searches for room hire availability and activity bookings – and gathering information from our forms from the website directly to the database. • Intergrate with the Square payment system and our Lamplight database to make it easier for us collect payments and connect them to the service provided, especially for therapy sessions and other services paid for by clients, and room bookings by renters. • Improve the visual content (images and video). • Restructure content so that the website more clearly reflects our Vision, Mission and Aims. • Review existing website provider and research alternatives. • Review domain names.
