Mission

I took over as Chair of Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association (SADACCA) summer 2015 following many years of Charity grant funded from the local authority but equally many years of financial and mis-management. We serve the Windrush generation, their children and our members. My mission has been to save this organisation from the crippling debt that preceded my tenure. We have a vision to be at the forefront of a cultural shift in the area of the city we occupy. We are part of a growing movement to turn the area into 'The International Quarter' of the city. However our dilapidated building is in much need of maintenance and repair. My greatest problem at present is to complete some essential electrical repairs to comply with our public liability insurance. We need £25k immediately to carry out that work and keep us compliant.

Additional Information

Sheffield City Council (SCC) own our building, for now! We were placed here in 1985 then taking a year to renovate our building before opening to the public and members in Spring 1986. However much of the work was substandard and now needs to be replaced and updated to be compliant in 2018. Many of the problems were overlooked by the committee then and over the coming years. The same problems were also overlooked by SCC. It now appears everyone wants us to rightfully become 'compliant' after many years of no apparent requirement. Nonetheless complaint we must be but finances are preventing us from overturning the years of degeneration our charity has experienced as we strive to become self-sufficient. Can you find someone to help us?
