Mission

Scottish Mountain Rescue is the community of 24 member Mountain Rescue Teams. The teams deliver a world class Search and Rescue (SAR) Service and respond to requests from Police Scotland. Our 800 volunteers respond in a moment’s notice, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide assistance to people in the outdoors. They give up their time, their beds, abandon their work, and are often called away from their families to assist total strangers. Scottish Mountain Rescue is the representing and coordinating body for mountain rescue teams in Scotland. We support our 24 member teams in a number of areas including raising awareness of the teams through press and social media. This helps the public to know what teams do, and supports many aspects of their work from recruitment of new team members to making links to new organisations that can potentially provide vital equipment.

Media and Communications Volunteer Wanted! This is a very exciting time for Scottish Mountain Rescue as we develop our marketing and communications activities We’re seeking an enthusiastic and skilled volunteer with an interest in mountain rescue to support our team with our press, communication and digital activities. Tasks could include: Supporting the Exec and Head of Development to produce a communications plan and strategy Monitoring the media for articles and press relating to Scottish Mountain Rescue and our member teams and other articles relating to our work Interviewing team members and speaking to teams to gather content for Scottish Mountain Rescue communications work Writing, editing and proof-reading articles for publication in Scottish Mountaineer, MREW Magazine, Army Mountaineer, and Ramblers Magazine Writing press releases, editorials, Q&A Features and other media related copy Generating content for Scottish Mountain Rescue social media channels Providing marketing support for events and fundraising activities Keeping records of communications activities up to date Supporting Scottish Mountain Rescue to develop relationships with journalists and other organisations Supporting the Head of Development to create a new e-newsletter for supporters, and compiling the content for each edition of this. Providing news articles to help keep the news area of the website up to date Producing and editing film content for use on the website/ social media What we can offer: Structured induction to the work of Scottish Mountain Rescue Full support from the Head of Development and Scottish Mountain Rescue staff team.
