Mission
The Breck Foundation aims to eradicate the incidence of grooming and exploitation of young people, which occur through online gaming and social media interaction by:• Educating and empowering young people to build digital resilience in their use of online gaming, social media and digital communication and to protect themselves and support their friends from the potential dangers of grooming and exploitation.• Raising awareness and increasing knowledge among adults with safeguarding responsibilities (parents, teachers, police, community leaders and others) on how to better recognise the signs of grooming and exploitation.• Enabling adults with safeguarding responsibilities to take appropriate action to protect young people from grooming and exploitation and to help young people make wiser decisions in online gaming and social media interactions. • Campaigning to improve policy, systems and process in public safety and educational organisations and in technology and gaming companies to better protect young people from the potential dangers of grooming and exploitation.

The Breck Foundation is a charity founded by Lorin LaFave after the tragic loss of her 14 year old son Breck Bednar in 2014 through internet grooming.
Using Brecks story, Lorin and a small team of speakers and trainers from the Breck Foundation work in schools, with police forces and through other channels across the UK.
As a Foundation, we campaign for a safer internet and help train police, educators, health practitioners, safeguarding leads, parents and pupils to ensure that young people are empowered to make safer choices for themselves online.
