Mission

We recognize that transport - both availability and cost - is a significant limiting factor when trying to access medical services from a rural community, Remote Transport was created to relieve this barrier for women in anticipation of their labour and birth, ensuring healthy mums and babies. Remote Transport wants to provide no-cost, reliable transportation for women in the Mokhotlong district of Lesotho to and from hospital to ensure safe delivery of babies, prevention of complications, and adequate post-natal care.

Additional Information

Remote Transport was born in 2016 by 2 former volunteers and residents of Mokhotlong, Lesotho after seeing first-hand the challenges and resilience among rural communities each day. We left Lesotho after a year but the Basotho people stayed close to our hearts, and we knew it was inevitable that we would return one day. We want to make a contribution to the community that was so welcoming and allowed us to take away much more than we were able to leave behind. We believe that all women – regardless of the lottery of birth – should and will be able to access safe and quality care when carrying and delivering their children.
