Mission

One in five people across the world live in slums and substandard housing, locking them into a grinding cycle of poverty. This lack of housing negatively affects their health and well-being, educational prospects, and ability to make a living. Habitat for Humanity’s vision is a world where everyone has a safe place to call home. We believe that a decent home helps to permanently break the cycle of poverty and allows families to achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance. We believe decent homes are the heartbeat of strong communities and so we also fight for land rights for women, upgrade urban slums and informal settlements, improve access to water and sanitation, and help communities become more resilient in the face of natural disasters. Working in nearly 70 countries, we support the most marginalised and vulnerable in society, and welcome people of all religions and none to partner in our life-changing work. By working hand in hand with communities, since 1976 we have provided over 1 million homes and helped over 6.8 million people.

Additional Information

In recognition of our mission that everyone has a decent place to call home, in 2019 Habitat for Humanity Great Britain are launching a "home" themed Christmas fundraising campaign, 'The Gingerbread House Challenge'. The aim is to raise as much money as we can by encouraging people to make a donation and participate in the challenge. The challenge is easy, in teams of 3-5 people, or as an individual, assemble and decorate the best gingerbread house possible. The finished gingerbread houses will then be judged by an esteemed panel on their creativity, structure and design. The Gingerbread House Challenge is the perfect activity for a friends and family, school or Christmas party.  We hope you’ll join us in celebrating the festive season, whilst raising money towards our work around the world. We believe that the success of this campaign will depend on it's ability to attract as much digital engagement as possible, and to this end we're looking for a digital marketing expert to help us design and implement our campaign strategy. Ingredients for the perfect candidate: 6oz of creative flair, a gallon of technical experience, 3 tea spoons of enthusiasm and sweetness, and a passion of social justice as the cherry on top.
