Mission

Camden Disability Action is a user-led organisation which aims to promote the equality of deaf and disabled people living or working in Camden. It was set up by deaf and disabled people in May 2015 to remove barriers that prevent us having full choice and control over our lives.

Additional Information

As Camden Disability Action develops and secures funding, members will decide its activities, which could include: Provision of an advice and advocacy service to help deaf and disabled people to access services and resources necessary to participate in Camden life. Finding out what training and support deaf and disabled people need to participate in Camden life in the way we choose. Gathering and representing the views and interests of deaf and disabled people in Camden to local, London wide and national policy makers. Ensuring our membership reflects the diversity of the disability community in Camden and that members exercise democratic control over all aspects of Camden Disability Action’s work.

Help required with Wordpress website

Description

We need help specifically with how our website works with plugins, such as those from Mailchimp, and also setting up something that does regular backups of the site. Beyond this, also looking for how to improve site generally. This is work that could be carried out completely remotely, although it would be good to be able to show you our building & operations, and to help you get a feel for the work that we do, as well as to meet the team. There is no special equipment etc needed, and by doing this you would be helping us a huge amount, as currently we have no budget for this & do not have the required skills within our team. Obviously for us as a disability charity, accessibility is really important to us, so someone with any additional knowledge around that would be very useful, but not completely essential. As a disabled person's organisation, we need to ensure that we are able to communicate with our members & stakeholders in different ways, according to their wants & needs. You would be helping us to make sure that our website (and linked newsletter) are running as well as possible, and therefore are as useful as possible.
