Additional Information

We are the charity that enhances communities, so everyone can enjoy being in, on and around water, safely; because every life is worth saving. Our work is vital in every city, town, community and household. RLSS UK has a proud history of helping to save the number of lives lost to drowning. Our mission is to be the leader in lifesaving and lifeguarding in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Sharing, our expertise and knowledge with as many people as possible, giving everyone the potential to save lives and enjoy water, safely. Here, at the RLSS UK, we have an impressive heritage. We have built up years of experience and, we are honoured, to boast a strong force of loyal members and volunteers who work with us to promote water safety and educate in life saving skills. Our roots were established back in 1891 as the Life Saving Society, and, in the early 1900s, with support from the Royal Family, we were granted permission to adopt the ‘Royal’ to our title – a badge that we are still immensely proud of today. We have used our extensive, world-leading knowledge of water safety and training to develop a comprehensive range of vocational qualifications and a series of awards and education programmes which all have the ultimate aim of preventing drowning and stopping unnecessary loss of life. Our portfolio includes the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) - the premier lifeguard training programme.

Market Research Help

Description

We are looking for a skilled qualitative researcher to assist our charity to assess how we evolve our local community infrastructure. RLSS UK Trustees have approved an exciting new strategic framework, and building our community is one of its key aims. This focuses on us growing member support and our community; demonstrating our work is vital in every city, town, community, or household, for any age. To help us to deliver against this aim and set the future direction for our volunteer delivery structures in the short to medium term, we need to identify how to achieve this through various lenses. We want to understand stress points and opportunities and to do this we have set in motion: • A Task and Finish group with a small group of key stakeholders to drive the project. • A quantitative and qualitative survey of our full membership, as a member led organization it is important, we understand the data behind our members and give ALL the opportunity to have their voice heard. • In depth qualitative research with our key branch volunteers. We have a network of 46 Branches across the UK and Ireland, each with a small group of elected volunteers managing activity via a committee structure, that was initially formed in the mid 1960’s, with very little change in it’s structure since then. These key volunteers are who we want to gain in-depth insight from via 1-1 calls. Investigating the strengths and weaknesses of current structures, and how these can transfer to our new aims. We are reaching out today to skilled research individuals willing to support this exciting piece of work on a voluntary basis, with any out of pocket expenses met. This project will culminate in a presentation to RLSS UK Board at the end of November. We anticipate this being an agile and flexible piece of work with limited stress on your time but hasten to add that volunteers are usually available for calls during evenings and weekends. If you would like more information on this great volunteer opportunity or you wish to submit an initial application of interest please email memberservices@rlss.org.uk. Closing date for applications of interest are 5pm 28 September 2020.
