Mission

To construct 'Prince George' a classic express steam locomotive of 1910 design for operation on both the national network and heritage railways. This will uniquely give the public the opportunity to experience pre First World War main line rail travel. The locomotive marks a key transitional stage between the nineteenth century locomotive and steam at its zenith in the 1930s.

Additional Information

In addition we see a key part of our purpose as 'heritage'. We take the educational aspects of the project very seriously and aspects of it are used to teach engineering at the GCSE equivalent level (CAD work), and at the A level equivalent (simulation of the valve gear). We have provided the opportunity for work experience and currently have an undergraduate mechanical engineering student working with us for a year as the 'sandwich' part of his degree course. This is providing an opportunity for high grade engineering design work and the project has received some financial support from the European Union.

Description

Progressing the project is directly related to the ability to raise funds. This can be from ordinary individuals but we would particularly like to develop links with high net worth individuals, and corporates. In addition we are using the name 'Prince George' with the permission of the royal family and we would like to access backing from individuals and organisations that would like to key into a royal identity.
