Mission
Say It With Your Chest (SIWYC) is a social enterprise. We were formed to lower the rate of fixed period and permanent exclusions in secondary schools, by decreasing persistent disruptive behaviour. We focus on exclusions because several pieces of research has found that:
‘‘Being excluded and not engaging with school are very strong indicators for those who are at risk of involvement in youth violence.” Youth safety taskforce
Our mission is to reduce the rate of permanent and fixed period exclusions by decreasing persistent disruptive behaviour, empower young people to raise their aspirations and break their negative behaviour cycles and inform and influence public and policy awareness.

Additional Information
We deliver a bespoke 12 week programme to students. The programme consists of tailored workshops and 1:1 mentoring sessions which take into consideration the individual needs of students. We believe that all behaviour is a form of communication, so with every interaction we ask ourselves what is the student trying to communicate through their behaviour. Our programme results in various outcomes such as lower exclusion rates, improved attendance, improved well-being, higher levels of self-esteem and resilience.
SIWYC conducted research and found that there are particular groups in the school population who are more likely to be excluded. Due to the research findings, SIWYC targets three target groups in the school population. We target students from a disadvantaged background i.e. those that receive free school meals, students who have special educational needs and students who are from the black and minority ethnic community.
