https://www.nettlesworthcommunitycentre.co.uk/Plawsworth and Kimblesworth Community Centre and Recreation Ground (known as Nettlesworth Community Centre locally) was built 100 years ago as a Miners’ Memorial Hall (it has a war memorial inside) and for all the years since it has been a hub for social, health and welfare activities for the local communities (and former pit villages) of Nettlesworth, Kimblesworth, and Plawsworth. Nettlesworth Community Centre is the only public space in the villages of Nettlesworth, Kimblesworth and Plawsworth. We provide facilities where numerous social and recreational activities take place, which promote the social welfare of the community. The community centre is the hub of the village. The Centre exists to enhance the social welfare of the local community. Our priority is the needs of local people, especially those who live in poverty, who are economically or socially most in need. It is a safe and welcoming space with a range of activities including: an award-winning community café and bingo, an art group, clog-dancers, a theatre group, seated chair exercises for those who are less mobile, Little Stars toddler group, Mini Melodies, youth groups in collaboration with the award-winning Sacriston Youth Project, and many more.
