This is a self-sustainable model promoting self-reliance of 1500 internally displaced women by involving them in manufacturing and marketing sanitary pads. The Agency Against Discrimination, Violence and Torture (ADVTSOM) is among the human rights organization in Mogadishu that monitor human rights violation. ADVTSOM has been involved in addressing injustices against the innocent a with special focus on Gender based Violence. With a strong presence in Somalia, will partner with Real Relief an international organization for manufacturing and marketing Safe pad, reusable sanitary napkins. This initiative will be launched to improve menstrual hygiene of the marginalized women in Internally Displaced People Camps in Mogadishu/Baidoa and Women from host communities and provide them with a safe alternative against the existing unhygienic solutions and empower them economically. The project is expected to become self-sustainable over a period of ten to twelve months. Real Relief will provide the Fabric, tailoring machines and Skill sets to ADVTSOM and a space for the manufacturing will be provided by ADVTSOM, group of Women and girls will be trained as trainers of trainees (TOT) for tailoring, cutting, packaging and marketing process by Real relief team. The Project will provide free Safepad™ hygienic sanitary pads to 10,000 young girls in schools and Universities in Mogadishu and Baidoa for the first six months of establishment.
