Woodism - Ambitious About Autism
Founder Of Woodism
Woodism is a project that’s created by Woody, my son, who has high functioning autism, and me, his dad.
I turn Woody’s unique phrases into buyable linocut cards and prints wiith profits going towards the charity Ambitious About Autism.
Woodism recently won a D&AD award making Woody the youngest ever recipient of a coveted D&AD pencil.
We’ve previously been featured in: D&AD, Creative Review, Campaign Magazine, The London Egotist, Creative Boom, Stylist, Evoke, Creative Brief, Top Drawer, Goodtype and many more.
Woodisms shine a positive light on neurodiversity and the autistic spectrum and have raised thousands for Ambitious About Autism
At the age of three Woody was diagnosed with high functioning autism. As he developed he seemed to have a unique way of viewing the world and expressing himself. So Woody’s dad began creating linocut carvings of some of his original phrases as a way of holding on to Woody’s touching words.
The creative process gave Woody and his dad a chance to connect as they worked on the designs. And it gave Woody a newfound confidence - he sometimes struggled at school and found handwriting particularly challenging, but suddenly his words became important. People wanted to hang them on their walls. In his words, Woody says; “I’m famous! I’m the author!”
