Personal Introduction

I am currently on a placement year of my Advertising and Marketing Communications course at Bournemouth University. I work at an energy consultancy at the moment and I am in charge of all the marketing, I am enjoying it but I am looking for more experience that will help me in my later career. My specialities are social media marketing, graphic design, idea generation and digital marketing.  I am a hardworking, determined person, but I am also friendly and always willing to meet new people. When a certain job or piece of work starts, I will not stop until it is finished and perfected. I am a good communicator, I manage to get on well with everyone and always avoid disputes. I am able to lead a team and voice my opinion, but I can also step back and listen to other people’s ideas intently and follow orders and tasks from others. I have done some charity work for the charity FYD for young deaf people, with a group of other people we stood in the local shopping centre and signed to many Christmas songs from 9am-4pm. I did this every year from when I was age 6-17. Unfortunately it stopped running after this.  This year at university I have been helping create an event at the student union called ‘Halls Wars’, we chose when and where the event will be held. What games and events will take place during the night and we also are in charge of selling tickets to our designated Halls. The event gave us all responsibility over the whole event.

Experience

Through university myself and 2 other members in my team were able to present our campaign ideas to the BBC in London, this was for Children in Need 2012. They gave us plenty of praise for our ideas. This was a great opportunity to present to advertising professionals and it was a great experience.I have worked on many live Advertising and Marketing projects at Bournemouth University, clients including: BBC, MTV, Unilever and Scream Pubs. I have also worked: Picture Pal – Guildford/ Bournemouth June 2010 – February 2011 I work in nightclubs in Guildford and Bournemouth; taking photos of the customers having a good time and I sell photos and key rings to them. I have a target to achieve every night and I receive a bonus if this target is achieved, I have reached it many times, I really enjoy interacting with customers and meeting new people. I also am on the production side of things making the photos and key rings, so I am good at time management getting the photos ready on time for the customers. I work individually.   Marks and Spencer – Brooklands July 2010 – September 2010 This was a temporary job for over the summer period before I went back to university. I was situated in the food hall, where I was responsible to check the sell by dates of the fridge food and make sure they were taken off the shelves in time. I also worked on the tills frequently.   Bowlplex - TowerPark Poole, General Assistant- February 2010- June 2010 I work in this Bowling Alley in Poole in term-time when I am situated in Bournemouth for University. I work behind the bar serving customers at very busy times and under- pressure, I find this is when I work best. I also help out on Reception; making sure customers are ok setting up their lane and sorting out the problems that may occur. I make sure the place is tidy to create a nicer atmosphere. I deal with troublesome customers quite a lot, and I am able to handle this situation.   Returned Back to Chessington World of Adventures, Retail Senior Host- (March 2009- September 2009) I returned back to Chessington world of Adventures after being invited back from last season; I had a chance to experience working in different shops and training new people for the new season. I also applied to be a team leader in the retail department but was turned down as I got accepted into Bournemouth University and I couldn’t work during term time.   GAME retail store- Kingston-upon-Thames, Sales Assistant– (November 2008- January 2009) I started this job soon after finishing at Chessington, I was one of the last Christmas temps to start working, so I had to adjust to it quickly the tills were very complicated, but I got the hang of it very quickly. I managed to get on with all the staff and become very confident at my job in a very short space of time. I worked on the tills, date rotated games, prepare for new releases, answer customer queries, up-sell insurance to customers (which I managed to get on the top of the staff leader board for), and also tidy the store to a high standard.    Returned Back to Chessington World of Adventures, Retail Senior Host- (March 2008- November 2008) I got a promotion shortly after joining, a senior host is an assistant to the team leaders, helping them in any way possible, I cash up after the days business, float in the tills at the beginning of the day, look after barrows, making sure the person on the stall is alright and they have enough stock etc, I delegate tasks to other staff making sure the daily tasks are done in that period of time. I am required to work under pressure as the park is very busy at times and lots of products get stolen in that time, customers are usually angry because of the queues, so I make conversation with them and calm them down. I give a high standard of customer service.   Chessington World of Adventures, Halloween Retail Host- (October 2007- November 2007) My contract was only a month to help out with the busy Halloween period, sometimes required to work 12 hour shifts, I worked most days in the half term and every weekend, this involved: serving customers on the till, tidying shop floor, manning shops by myself, selling products on the outside barrows. I was invited back to work in March.
