Mission

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is a unique charity that aims to support vunerable and socially disengaged young people and adults, through a variety of groundbreaking, outdoors based projects. It is a working Farm that supports the community of which it is part and also educates over 10,000 school children a year in a safe and supportive environment. It is located in a green wedge of countryside which cuts through different social areas of the city and bounded by two of the most deprived areas in Leeds.

Projects run at the Farm include: Environmental education to 10,000 primary school children a year, majority from inner city areas Conservation projects with young people placed by schools on our Reconnect programme – including cycle recycling, woodland management, ponds, streams, meadows, all leading to practical qualifications Summer Playscheme attended by over 100 inner city children with over half getting free and reduced rate places  Horticulture, rare breed Farm Animals and hedgehog sanctuary looked after by special needs adults and unemployed young people A leisure resource ( formally derelict buildings and unused farmland) for inner city dwellers open 365 days a year
