Additional Information

Addicts4Addicts is a young, not for profit, Social Enterprise registered in 2010 which began as a result of the personal experiences of our Founder, Penny Snowball, following her long term struggle with mental health and addiction.  As the Home Secretary says in her foreword to the Coalition Government’s 2010 Drugs Strategy, “drugs and alcohol dependence are both key causes of societal harm, including crime, family breakdown and poverty. Together, they cause misery and pain to individuals, destroy families and undermine communities.”  We agree. One in four of us will be affected by a mental health problem at some point in our lives. It is said that up to 80% of these people are self-medicating: using drugs, alcohol or other addictive behaviours (e.g. food, shopping etc.) And yet, despite these staggering figures, there is very little quality long term therapy available at an affordable price. Addicts4Addicts plans to build an organisation that will make a significant contribution to society and within five years, will be able to help more than 800 people every year. Our aim is to target the huge demand from both government and non-government agencies.  In order to achieve this we require £1m of start-up funding to cover the first three years. At the end of this trial phase, we will have established Addicts4Addicts as a respected provider of quality addiction therapy. We will have an established clinical team and infrastructure on which we will be able to scale the business significantly.
